We've waited a long time for it and it's finally here! The wonderful hot summer. After all the last few months in which we have practiced abstinence more than ever, it is now an even better feeling to be woken up by the sun's rays and enjoy most of our time outdoors.
Happy people everywhere, life has returned to the streets, tanned skin, evenings with your loved ones in the park or with a cool drink in the bar. Yes, it's finally possible again! We can sit on the terrace at our favorite Italian restaurant next door again and enjoy the service.
And the summer has only just begun, we still have so many wonderful weeks ahead of us.
What are you looking forward to and what do you value most at the moment? What is particularly important to you?
Psychologically, we are currently experiencing an absolute high again and we deserve it. Bringing body and mind into harmony brings about true healthy happiness. And especially in summer, it is important to provide your body with plenty of water. During outdoor sports activities such as jogging, cycling or playing volleyball, for example, we lose between half a liter and a whole liter of sweat per hour and in hot temperatures it is even more. It is therefore particularly important to make up for this loss after training. To counteract this heavy loss, it is advisable not to exercise in the blazing midday sun. Instead, start your morning with a run around the block before work. Believe me, it sounds hard, but afterwards your mind will feel really awake. And it might even save you your usual cup of coffee in the morning, as it gets your circulation going. You can also give yourself a wonderful start to the day with a little morning yoga session. But be careful, addictive feeling guaranteed!

And if you are going to be active in the sun, don't forget sun protection. It is always important to make sure that you use protection that protects against both UV-A and UV-B rays. The higher the sun protection factor, the thicker the mesh. The factor therefore determines how many rays reach the skin. Sweating, water and abrasion cause some of the protection to be removed again and again, so it is particularly important to close the "net" again and apply sunscreen to the skin regularly. Often too little is used, so don't be afraid to apply more. Your skin will be very grateful in a few years' time!
In addition to sun protection from the outside, there are also great superfoods to protect your skin from the inside. One well-known vegetable is the carrot. Not only can you prepare delicious recipes with it, but with the nutrients beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamin C it contains, it has also been proven to protect you against harmful sunlight and the associated skin damage and counteract premature ageing. So, as Helge Schneider sang years ago: "Get on with it"!
Or refresh yourself on hot days with a juicy watermelon. Not only does it keep you hydrated, it also protects you from UV-A and UV-B rays with plenty of lycopene and vitamin C. Enjoy it as a tasty snack between meals or conjure up a quick and easy summer salad with mint and feta. Mhhhh delicious!
With the right headgear, plenty of fluids, sun cream and the perfect snacks, nothing stands in your way. So get out into the great outdoors and enjoy your well-deserved summer!
To our Healthy Happiness!
